St. John's, NL – The Memorial Sea-Hawks played to a 70-57 win over the visiting StFX X-Women Saturday night.

Memorial started their two-game series against the X-Women following the same approach that earned them two solid wins against Dalhousie the previous weekend.

The Sea-Hawks were able to get to the free-throw line and convert a solid percentage of their attempts, going 14 for 17 (82.4%). The X-Women struggled against Memorial's defense, shooting 29% through the first half.

Brooklyn Wright has been a bright spot for the Sea-Hawks. Wright started the second quarter strong, scoring a quick 10 points on perfect shooting. Memorial was ahead through both quarters of the first half, 17-16 after the first, and 40-22 at the half.

The X-Women had a decent third quarter, improving their shooting from the field and from the three-point line, shooting 3 for 6 from deep and 8 for 17 from the field, an improvement from the first half. Unfortunately for X, Memorial was able to keep up the pressure and continue their success on the offensive end. The Sea-Hawks may have struggled from the field, but their excellent free-throw shooting allowed them sustain their lead, finishing the game shooting 20 for 24 from the line.

Brooklyn Wright finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, earning Subway Player of the Game commendations.

Sydney Stewart scored 14 points and had eight rebounds for the Sea-Hawks, while Rosie Stanoev netted 12 and pulled in 10 rebounds.

Memorial led through the final two quarters, 54-41 after the third, and 70-57 as the final score.

The top scorer for the X-Women was Caroline Hrabinski with 12 points, along with a solid 13 rebounds. Katie MacIntosh and Samatha Minicucci each scored 10 for StFX.

The X-Women and Sea-Hawks square off again tomorrow at 12 pm.
