Sea-Hawks Looking to Extend 3-Game Streak

Sea-Hawks Looking to Extend 3-Game Streak

Matchup

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (4-6) will be facing the Dalhousie Tigers (6-2) in a two-game weekend series on the Tigers home-court. This will be an opportunity for Memorial to strike back at Dalhousie after losing their two previous games against the Tigers.

Last Action

The Sea-Hawks are riding high off of their two-game sweep against the Cape Breton Capers last weekend. The weekend victories were the solid start to a new year the men were looking forward to. Memorial currently stands in fourth place in the AUS, with Dalhousie being only one place ahead. Memorial has played two more games than Dal at this point in the season.

By the Numbers

47.5% - Dalhousie currently holds the highest field goal percentage in the AUS; Memorial will be looking to stifle a potent offense that had their way with the Hawks defense in their last meeting

38.6% - Dalhousie holds the top spot for three-point percentage; Memorial ranks third. Taking away the outside shot will certainly be a priority for Memorial on the defensive end.

2 – Both teams have two players currently ranked in the top ten positions for most points per game. For Memorial, Nathan Barker (18.4) and Daniel Gordon (18.0) are ranked 6th and 7th respectively. For Dalhousie, Sven Stammberger (21.8) and Alex Carson (17.1) are ranked 4th and 8th. Both teams will look to minimize offense coming from these scorers.

76.2% - Memorial holds the second-highest free-throw percentage in the AUS, as well as the most free throws made. The Sea-Hawks will be looking to attack the Dalhousie defense to draw contact and get to the line to convert on easy points.

Player Spotlight

Nathan Barker (Memorial) – The second year Hawk has been a consistent source of offense this year. Barker ranks in the top ten for four separate offensive categories (FG%, 3P%, FT%, PPG). His last game against the Cape Breton Capers was an expose of his offensive firepower, as he dropped 35 points on a scorching 15/16 shooting from the field.

Sven Stammberger (Dalhousie) – Stammberger is coming off a strong performance against Saint Mary's where he put up a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. He is currently averaging a double-double this season. Although potent offensively, Stammberger struggles to take care of the ball, as he places fourth in the AUS in total turnovers.
