Huskies sweep Sea-Hawks in women’s volleyball action in first of three match ups

(HALIFAX, N.S.)—Saint Mary's University defeated the visiting Memorial University Sea-Hawks in three sets on Friday night in Atlantic university sport volleyball action from the Homburg Centre.

The Huskies swept the three matches with scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 in the win and the Huskies held a slim 32-28 kill advantage in the match.

Lindsay Donovan (London, Ont.) paced Saint Mary's and all hitters with nine kills while teammates Erin Smith (Moncton, NB) and Maddie Clarke (Ottawa, Ont.) each had seven.

Anna Watt (Calgary, Alberta) chipped in five kills for SMU, who improve to 6-3 in conference play.

Emma Hackett (Clarenville, NL) finished with eight kills for Memorial while Kierstin Fey (Selkirk, Manitoba) had five.

Memorial drops to 5-4 on the season.

Both teams are back in action this weekend at the Homburg Centre with matches Saturday January 13th at 7p.m. and Sunday January 14th at 1p.m.
