MSOC | Early Penalty Too Much to Overcome for Voyageurs

MSOC | Early Penalty Too Much to Overcome for Voyageurs

A penalty kick goal, mere seconds into the game, was all the Queen's Gaels would need to hold off the Voyageurs on Saturday afternoon, as the Laurentian men fell 1-0.

Just 13 seconds into the game, the host Gaels were awarded a penalty kick from the spot and Jacob Schroeter made no mistake, freezing Connor Vande Weghe as he slotted the ball into the lower left corner.

That would be the only blemish on Vande Weghe's record as he would save the remaining 12 shots fired his way in the game.  Vande Weghe now leads the OUA with 27 saves through three games.

The Voyageurs upped their pressure in the second half, creating many chances to tie the game, but the Gaels' Alexander Dimock would shut the door en route to the clean sheet.

The men will be looking for their first win of the season on Sunday when they pay a visit to the RMC Paladins.
