BLUES BOUNCE BACK WITH BIG WIN OVER BIRDS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team came away with an 89-59 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night (Feb. 12) at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With the win, the Blues improve to 6-9 and remain in third place in the OUA East division.

Third-year guard Rahshida Atkinson led all players with 23 points and four steals, while rookie forward Charlotte Collyer had a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards on the night.

With it being Toronto's last regular season home game, the team honoured graduating student-athlete Abena Addo in a special post-game ceremony. Addo notched 12 points and five boards, while fellow co-captain Alanna Garner had 11 points and seven rebounds.
 


Third-year guard Diedre Edwards tallied nine points, with rookie Sarah Bennett adding seven points and eight boards in the victory.

Algoma was led by Carrera Lamoureux and Karissa Kajorinne, who notched 12 and 13 points, respectively.

The Blues now hit the road for their final four games of the regular season, first heading to Guelph to take on the Gryphons next Friday, February 19. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
