OSHAWA, Ont. – Despite making a third-quarter push, the Ontario Tech University men's basketball team had their comeback attempt come up short on Saturday against the Waterloo Warriors.
Waterloo defeated the Ridgebacks 98-80 in their first-ever meeting. A game that was even across the scoresheet, the slight difference was Waterloo shooting 10 per cent better than Ontario Tech, dropping three more threes and nine more field goals, with the Ridgebacks taking only four less shots.
Next weekend the Ridgebacks' final home weekend of their inaugural season will feature Friday and Saturday night games against the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs. Tip-off for both games is 8 p.m.

AJ Cummings (Ajax, Ont.) led the Ridgebacks with 22 points on 7-for-18 scoring.

Ammar Hassan (London, Ont.) and
Graddy Kanku (Ottawa, Ont.) were the only other Ontario Tech players in double-digits with 20 and 19 points respectively.
• Justin Malnerich came off the bench for 30 points, while Nedim Hodzic had a double-double with 29 points and 10 boards.
• Levin Ogbanna (Toronto, Ont.) had a game-high five assists, while also pulling in a Ridgeback-high seven boards.
• Nedim Hodzic's 10 boards led the Warriors, but it was Zoran Savic getting it done off the ball with eight rebounds, four blocks and four assists.
