With points at a premium this time of year, both the UPEI Panthers and Memorial Sea-Hawks captured a big one in a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon. 

"It keeps us even with Memorial which is a good thing and it keeps our fate in our hands," said head coach Lewis Page. "But I thought we were good enough to get the win." 

With both teams tied for the final playoff spot at 13 points apiece, the result was an important one. 

"It was big for us," said Subway Player of the Game Lucas Ross. "Before the game, Lewis said we couldn't take zero points. To get one was nice, but to get three would've been awesome." 

With the wind at the their backs in the opening half, the Panthers (4-5-1) struck the ball well, but missed high on most of their opportunities. 

Memorial had the best chance of the half on a strike from Sea-Hawk forward Tyler Forsey, but Brett Strba made the sliding stop in 44th minute to preserve the scoreless game. 

In terms of possession, the Panthers dominated the second half, where Ross' size in the midfield matched up well against a big Sea-Hawks (4-4-1) squad. 

In the 65th minute Carlos Gallo sent a beautiful cross to the six-yard box, where both Mohammad Jaber and a defender dove to get the header with the defender winning the battle. 

"In the second half we took it to them and it was a bit frustrating not getting that goal," Ross said. 

Page gave credit to his substitutes, who maintained the offensive pressure, but UPEI just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net.  

"We dominated possession, but didn't turn enough of that possession into goal chances," Page said. "We need to have a little more killer instinct in and around the penalty box. We just have to be a little more lethal in the final third." 

The Sea-Hawks are off to Wolfville, NS to battle the Acadia Axemen at 3:45pm NST on Sunday afternoon.
