X-Women wrap up play at McGill tourney

Montreal, QC – The StFX X-Women wrapped up play at the McGill RedBird Classic tournament with a 7-55 loss to the University of Toronto. With an 0-3 record, the X-Women finished in fourth place behind McGill (3-0), Queen's (2-1) and Toronto (1-2).

Sunday's game saw Toronto jump out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter. With an even 12-12 second quarter, the Varsity Blues were up 33-22 on the X-Women at halftime.

The X-Women outscored their OUA opponent in the third quarter but the Varsity Blues came back with a strong final frame and held onto their lead on route to the win.

Samantha Minicucci scored 13 points off the StFX bench to lead the X-Women in scoring. Jessica Miller netted 10 points and Sammie Ahoh led in rebounding with 11, also added 9 points to the scoring tally. Caroline Hrbinski hauled in 10 rebounds.

Rahshida Atkinson was the top point-getter for the Varsity Blues with 18 points. Keyira Parkes scored 15 as Toronto out-rebounded the X-Women 65-42.

The X-Women have one game remaining on their pre-season exhibition schedule. They will host Holland College on Sunday, October 29th in a 2:00 pm match-up at the StFX Oland Centre.
