Tigers dominate Sea-Hawks with a 94-66 victory

The Tigers dominated the Sea-Hawks tonight on home court at the Dalplex. The Tigers used every quarter to increase their lead on the Sea-Hawks, eventually resulting in a 94-66 victory. The Sea-Hawks looked for most of their points in the paint, while the Tigers found numerous opportunities at the three-point line and off of turnovers.

The Tigers led the offence in the first quarter gaining a 13-point lead over the Sea-Hawks. The Sea-Hawks could not compete with the Tigers three point shooting as they notched 12 points off them from the three-point line. Caleb Gould brought in eight of the Sea-Hawks 16 points for the quarter and Jarred Reid scored seven for the Tigers.

In the second quarter Sean Dodds notched two more three-point jumpers for the Tigers and Kashrell Lawrence put nine points on the scoreboard, helping maintain the Tigers lead over the Sea-Hawks. Vasilije Curcic scored seven points for the Sea-Hawks but it wasn't enough to weaken the Tigers lead. The half ended with a score of 54-33 in favour of the Tigers

In the third the Sea-Hawks were still unable to shut down the Tigers. Cedric Sanogo came up huge for the Tigers this quarter scoring 13 points, helping increase the Tigers lead to 76-49. Gould and Curcic both lead the Sea-Hawks once again scoring five points each this quarter.

The fourth and final quarter looked much like the previous with the Tigers once again pulling ahead to end the game 28 points ahead of the Sea-hawks with a final score of 94-66.

Gould and Curic led the game in scoring with 20 points each. Gould also led the game with nine rebounds. As for the Tigers, Dodds owned the three-point line with 15 of his 17 points coming from three-point jumpers. Kashrell Lawrence also stepped up for the Tigers bringing in 16 points and six rebounds.

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted tonight's game as a Make Some Noise event in partnership with the Student Athlete Mental Health Initiative and sponsors including Lawtons and East Coast Lifestyle. The goal of the event was to raise awareness on mental illness and the stigma associated with it.  The Tigers would like to thank Liz McLaughlin for sharing her experiences and knowledge at half time, Lawtons and East Coast Lifestyle for their sponsorship, and the Dalhousie Mental Health Week Committee for their participation.

Both teams are back at it tomorrow afternoon at 2pm in the Dalplex as the Seahawks will look to break their three-loss streak and the Tigers will attempt to hold their third place seat in the standings.
