VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds used a dominant low-post performance to roll over the Calgary Dinos 82-63 on Friday night at War Memorial Gym.
 
The T-Birds got a career-high 21 points from David Wagner, who added eight rebounds and two blocks. Brylle Kamen pulled down 16 rebounds, adding 12 points and a two steals.

Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson scored 19 points to lead Calgary. Thijin Moses had 14 points and led the Dinos with eight rebounds.
 
UBC continues to lead the Pacific Division at 7-2 on the year. Calgary falls to 4-5.
 
The Thunderbirds wrap up conference action for 2012 on Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at home against Lethbridge. Calgary heads to Victoria on Saturday.

Pronghorns-Vikes Stats

VICTORIA – Strong rebounding and depth in attack put the Victoria Vikes 77-59 over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday at McKinnon Gymnasium. The win lifts the Vikes to a 6-3 record in the Canada West, while the Horns drop to 5-4.
 
The home team was led in scoring by Terrell Evans, who impressed with 25 points and five steals, while Ryan Erikson had 13 points and eight rebounds.
 
For the Horns, fifth-year Derek Waldner tallied 14 points, despite being held to single digits entering the fourth. Five-foot-eleven Morgan Duce added 13 points, nine of which came from outside the arc.
 
Up next, Lethbridge will face the UBC Thunderbirds (7-2), while the Vikes will host the Calgary Dinos (4-5). Both games will take place at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live athttp://canadawest.tv.

REGINA – A late push by Regina gave the Cougars an 88-69 win over Trinity Western on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
 
The Cougars (3-6) went into the fourth quarter holding a slim three-point lead over the Spartans, but the U of R scored the first nine points of the final frame to build up the first double-digit lead of the game for either team and held Trinity Western to just one field goal in the final three minutes to seal the win.
 
Frank Brown scored 23 points for the second game in a row to lead the Cougars and added a season-high 10 rebounds to notch his first double-double in a University of Regina uniform. Three other Cougar starters hit double figures in the win, as Paul Gareau and Brendan Hebert both had 14 points and Connor Burns scored 12.
 
Hebert, who was called upon to play 39 of the game’s 40 minutes as Darius Mole was in foul trouble most of the game, dished out a career-high 11 assists for a double-double.
 
Mark Perrin scored 21 points to lead Trinity Western, while Eli Mara collected eight rebounds. Justin Bakuteka added 12 points and Kurtis Osborne scored 10, with both players fouling out late in the contest. Perrin, Osborne, and Tyler Linttell all tied for the game high with four steals.
 
The Cougars will host #6 Fraser Valley (6-3) on Saturday night at the CKHS, while Trinity Western will make the short trip east to face Brandon (2-7).

BRANDON - The #6 ranked Fraser Valley Cascades came into Brandon on Friday night looking maintain momentum and extend their three-game winning streak, and the Cascades did exactly that, beating the host Bobcats 81-61.
 
The Bobcats got to work early, recording the game's first basket just 10 seconds into the game. Things quickly turned in Fraser Valley's favour, highlighted by a Cascades run over 10 minutes between the first and second quarters in which they outscored the 'Cats 23-5.
 
Kyle Grewal led all scorers with 24 points, shooting  9 for 13, including 5 for 5 from the three. Grewal also picked up 11 rebounds. Kevon Parchment also finished with a double-double (15 points, 14 rebounds), while Sam Freeman finished with 15 points and Nathan Kendall contributed 12 points.
 
Three Bobcats finished in double-digit scoring, led by Michael Smith's 17 points. Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak finished with a double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) and guard Kenonte Ramsey finished with 10 points.
 
The Cascades will travel to Regina to take on the Cougars Saturday night. The Bobcats will welcome the Trinity Western Spartans to the HLC Saturday to close out the first half of the Canada West regular season.

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The #7 Alberta Golden Bears squeezed past the UNBC Timberwolves, 78-74 on Thursday at the Northern Sport Centre. The visiting Golden Bears move to 8-1 after a 78-74 final, while the Timberwolves fall to 4-5.
 
Top scorers for the Golden Bears were Saffa, with 16, and Jordan Baker, with 14. Baker has now accumulated 1, 238 points and ranks third on Alberta in all-time conference scoring.
 
UNBC’s Sam Raphael was the top scorer of the night with 17 points, Jose Araujo added 14.
 
The Golden Bears continue their weekend on the road as they travel Calgary to take on the Mount Royal Cougars on Saturday.
 
The Timberwolves return to the Northern Sport Centre on Saturday night as they face off against the #9 Saskatchewan Huskies.

CALGARY - The #9-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies used 29-point second and fourth quarters as they
downed the host Mount Royal Cougars 96-73 on Thursday night.

Canada West leading scorer Stephon Lamar continued his torrent, scoring a game-high 27 points as the third-year San Diego guard led his team to their second straight win, upping their
record to 6-3, while the Cougars fall for their fourth time in a row, moving to 2-7 with the loss.

Nick Fothadded 13 points for the winners and Ben Baker had a double-double with 12 points, 11 boards.

For the Cougars, it was Awet Abraha doing the damage from the floor, scoring 16 points in the loss.

Saskatchewan continues its road trip in Prince George, B.C. to take on the UNBC Timberwolves this Saturday, while Mount Royal closes out the first half by welcoming the #7 Alberta Golden Bears to Kenyon Court, also on Saturday. Both games are live on CanadaWest.tv.
