Cardiac kids strike again with win over Moncton

MONCTON – Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (6-5-1=13pts, 5th place) let go of a 3-1 lead in the third period and offered the CIS No. 5 ranked Acadia Axemen (9-2-1=19pts, 2nd place) three unanswered goals, including two on the power play, to fall 4-3, on Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game in front of over 780 spectators.

Brett Thompson, on the power play at 3:00, Boston Leier, at 14:45 and Kyle Farrell, at 18:40, on the power play proved to be the winner, were the third period marksmen for the visitors. Farrell's winning goal is his fifth in 12 games this season.

Zachery Franko scored the Axemen's first goal, in the second frame.

Danny Chiasson (Steve Lebel, Jean-François Plante), at 15:42 of the first and Alex Emond (Alex and Allain Saulnier), at 12:24 and Alex Saulnier (Victor Beaulac, Allain Saulnier), at 18:40 of the second, gave the Aigles Bleus the 3-1 lead and they seemed on their way to a victory.

Goaltender Brandon Thibeau faced 38 shots on goal in the loss, including 16 in the first period. Brandon Glover had 22 for the winners.

The Blue and Gold will host the Saint Mary's University Huskies (6-4-2=14pts, 4th place), Saturday at 7 p.m., while the Axemen head to Fredericton to take on the St. Thomas Tommies who picked up their first win of the season against the visiting Saint Mary's Huskies.
