FREDERICTON, NB – The UNB Varsity Reds and StFX X-Women played to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon.

The Varsity Reds' first goal of the season came at just the right time. It came exactly one minute after the StFX X-Women had scored their eighth. Danika Lefebvre (Hanwell, NB) scored in the 59th minute, which helped the host team to a 1-1 draw and their first point of the season.

"I saw the cross and I just anticipated that the ball was going to go through the box and went for it, kicked it, and it went in," said Lefebvre, of her first goal as a Varsity Red.

Lefebvre's goal came as the X-Women were still celebrating a 1-0 lead.

Chloe Brennan (Brookside, NS) staked X to that lead with a goal in the 58th minute.

"I think it took us too long to transition into 'now we need to defend'," said Brennan. "But it happens and it's early in the season."

For her efforts, Lefebvre, a second year Kinesiology student, was named the Subway Player of the Game.

"I think it was payback for their goal," said Lefebvre. "We bounced back from that goal and I think it was good to finally get a goal this season."

"I think it'll help us break through, especially because we have a home game next weekend and I think it's just a way to open up the gate for more goals and more potential for winning some games here," she said.

With the draw, UNB is now 0-3-1 on the season. They host UPEI on Sunday, in a 1:00 pm kickoff.

The X-Women are 3-0-1. They visit Dalhousie on Friday evening.
