X-Women on 7-game winning streak

Sackville, NB - The CIS #10 ranked StFX X-Women improved to 7-1 on the AUS hockey regular season with a 3-1 win over the host Mount Allison Mounties (1-7) Sunday afternoon.

After dropping thier first game of the AUS regular season, the X-Women have now gone 7-0 against AUS opponents and sit atop the AUS conference in first place.

Sunday afternoon against the Mounties, the X-Women jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first period.

At 8:38, Kara Power (New Glasgow, NS) opened the scoring on assists from Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC) and Alex Normore (Bedford, NS).

With 28 seconds remaining in the first 20 minutes, Oddy doubled the X-Women lead on assists from Jenna MacDonald (Osgoode, ON) and Normore.

Mackenzie Lalonde of the Mounties, with an unassisted powerplay goal, cut the X-Women advantage in half at 2:39 of the second period. 

At 7:34, Oddy restored the two-goal X-Women lead with a power play goal. Helpers came from Power and Nicole Halladay (Smith Falls, ON).

The teams played to a scoreless third period, with the Mounties outshooting the X-Women 13-9.

Pascale Daigle made 28 saves for the win, while Keri Martin turned aside 30 shots in the loss. 

The X-Women return to action Saturday Nov. 15 when they visit the Halifax Civic Centre to face the Dalhousie Tigers.

StFX is back on home ice Sunday, Nov. 16 when they host the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. at the Keating Centre.
