The Dalhousie Tigers got back in the win column with a thrilling last minute victory over the Saint Mary's Huskies Wednesday night. The win snaps the Tigers four game losing streak while it extends the Huskies losing streak to four. Despite nearly doubling the Tigers in shots, the Huskies simply ran into a hot goalie as Mati Barrett stopped 33 of 37 of Saint Mary's shots.

The Huskies pounced on the Tigers early when Brianna Soper and Moira MacDonald both scored to make it 2-0 just six minutes into the first period.

With Saint Mary's Rebecca Johnson and Beatrice Harrietha in the box, the Tigers were on a 5 on 3 powerplay and Maggie Beaton scored her first goal of the game to breath some life into the game for the Tigers. Elizabeth followed it up just two minutes later with a goal of her own to tie the game at two going into the second period. The Tigers only had three shots in the first, but they made the most of their chances with  66.67% shooting percentage in the period.

The Tigers came out of the dressing room with a sense of enthusiasm and they poured ten shots on  Rebecca Weagle in the second period. The Tigers scored on their first shot of the game as Jennifer Thompson notched her first goal of the year to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.

Maggie Beaton added her second goal of the game off a feed from Jennifer Thompson three minutes into the third to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead, but Janelle Rogers answered just three minutes later to trim the deficit to one.

After Jesse Reitveld scored with 41 seconds left to make it a 5-3 game for the Tigers, the Huskies answered yet again when Sarah Dougla scored with 30 seconds left to make it a one goal game. The Huskies pulled their goalie but Mati Barrett turned aside a last second shot by Mary Worndl and the Tigers held on for the 5-4 victory.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday when the Huskies square off against the StFX X-Women at home while the Tigers travel to Charlottetown to face the UPEI Panthers.
