CIS No. 8 Axemen hand Huskies 3-0 loss

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Travis Fenning's (Ottawa, Ont.) goal 12 minutes into the game ended up being the game winner as the CIS No. 8 ranked Acadia Axemen blanked the visiting Saint Mary's Huskies 3-0 in their second meeting of the season.

Fenning's goal, assisted by senior defender Andrew Snyder, was his fifth in six games. Fenning sits second among the top three goal scorers in the AUS with first going to teammate Cooper Coats (Halifax, N.S.) and third to Axeman Matt Berrigan (Halifax, N.S.).

Berrigan scored his fourth goal of the season just over three minutes after Fenning to give the Axemen a 2-0 lead after one half of play.

Subway Player of the Game, Sean Langille (Dartmouth, N.S.) scored his first goal of the season to give Acadia a 3-0 lead at the 60 minute mark of the game.

Axemen keeper Pietro Nottegar (Darmouth, N.S.)  picked up his fifth win of the season only being tested twice in the match against the Huskies.

The Axemen were missing AUS and team leading goal scorer Cooper Coats this evening.

The Huskies host UNB on Saturday afternoon, while the second place 5-1-0 Axemen travel to Halifax on Sunday to take on the fourth place 3-0-4 Dalhousie Tigers on Sunday.
