Gaels 57, Paladins 42

KINGSTON, Ont. (January 5, 2010) – Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., scored 19-points and was a perfect eight-for-eight from the free throw line to help the Queen's Gaels defeat the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins 57-42 on Tuesday evening in Kingston, Ont.

With the win, Queen's moves into a three-way tie for first place in the OUA east division. Carleton, Ryerson and Queen's each have 12 points with Carleton holding a game in hand on both the Gaels and Rams.

Maddie Soye of Kitchener, Ont., posted 10-points in the win and tallied five rebounds. Jill Wheat of Marwayne, Alta.,led Queen's with six rebounds.

Samantha Bayne of Ottawa was RMC's top scorer with 10 points and five rebounds.

RMC opened the game with a seven-point advantage holding a 21-14 lead after the first quarter, but Queen's evened the score at 30 apiece heading into halftime. The difference in the game came in the third quarter, when the Gaels defence held RMC to a mere four points, while the Gaels posted 13.

This weekend the Gaels are set to play their final two games inside the Physical Education Centre on campus at Queen's University. Queen's host the University of Toronto on Friday night and then will say good bye to Bartlett Gymnasium on Saturday as they contend against Ryerson. Admission for Saturday's game is free with a non-perishable food item.

Both games tip-off at 6:00pm and are followed by a men's game which begin at 8:00pm.
