Lambis? Hat-Trick Leads Rams Over RMC

TORONTO - The perfect season remains alive and well.

A three goal performance by fourth-year striker Nick Lambis (Pickering, Ont.) propelled the Ryerson Rams men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory against the RMC Paladins at Monarch Park Sunday afternoon. The Rams are now 13-0 this season and remain atop the OUA East division with 39 points. Meanwhile, RMC falls to 0-11-1.

BOXSCORE

Ahmed Zabian (San Andres, Colombia), Raheem Rose (Toronto) and Misel Klisara (Mississauga, Ont.) also found the back of the net for Ryerson while goalkeeper Ali Ghazanfari (Stouffville, Ont.) only needed to make two saves for the clean sheet.

The Rams' goalkeeping duo of Ghazanfari and Praveen Ahilan (Unionville, Ont.) has combined for ten shutouts this season and a 0.24 GAA. Both of those numbers are best in the CIS.

Lambis found the back of the net twice in the first 32 minutes of the game to give Ryerson a 2-0 advantage. Three minutes later, Zabian put the ball between the pipes for his first goal as a Ram. Then, just before halftime, Rose scored on a penalty kick. His seventh of the season (and first since coming back from injury) made it 4-0 Ryerson at halftime.

In the 63rd minute, Lambis completed the hat-trick with his eighth goal of the year before Klisara scored his first of the campaign to complete the Rams' offensive barrage.

RMC's Arman Afkham-Ebrahim made 12 saves in the losing effort.

SPREADING THE SCORING
With goals from Zabian and Klisara, Ryerson now has 14 different players that have scored at least once this season. The Rams and Guelph Gryphons are tied for first in the OUA with 45 goals.

UP NEXT:
The Rams will be in tough to make it 14 straight victories when they play the Toronto Varsity Blues (9-2-2) Wednesday afternoon at Downsview Park.

Although the Varsity Blues lost 4-2 to the Queen's Gaels Sunday afternoon, Ryerson barely snuck by them the last time the two sides clashed in mid-September. A superb individual effort by Rose that landed him on the OUA Plays of the Week was the difference as the Rams edged the Varsity Blues 1-0. First touch under the lights is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
