WBB | Gee-Gees Run Away From Voyageurs

In their fifth game of the season, the Laurentian Voyageurs' women's basketball team fell to the Ottawa Gee-Gees with a final score of 71-60. This home court loss continues a 5-game losing streak for the Vees.

The first quarter looked promising for the Voyageurs as they lead the Gee-Gees for the first few minutes of play. As both teams fought for the lead, the Voyageurs subbed off several of their starters. Ottawa took advantage of this and claimed the lead over Laurentian, ending the quarter with a score of 22-16 for the Gee-Gees.

The Vees brought the pressure in the second quarter, determined to close the gap between the teams. Laurentian played a strong offensive period and took advantage of gaps in Ottawa's defense. The Vees were able to finish the quarter lagging by only 3 points with a score of 31-28 to Ottawa.

The third quarter was a hard-fought period as the Voyageurs were determined to regain the lead. An incredible first half of the quarter saw the Vees catching up to the Gee-Gees and even stealing the lead for a moment. Their progress was quickly thrown off track after a series of fouls by Kennedi Cashmore and Meghan Forestell resulted in the Gee-Gees regaining their lead and widening the gap with a score of 55-49 at the end of the quarter.

The final quarter was a game of free throws as both teams earned their fair share of fouls. Ottawa was able to increase their lead steadily throughout the period, and finally ended the game with a score of 71-60.

L'Ashante Henry led the Voyageurs for the game with 16 points, followed by Meghan Forestell with 12 points.

The Voyageurs will be back in action at 6pm on Saturday night as they take on the Carleton Ravens at the Ben Avery Gymnasium. You can stay up to date with the Voyageurs by checking www.luvoyageurs.com, or by following @LUVoyageurs on Twitter.
