Dunn-Suen powers Tigers past Axewomen 3-0

After a flurry of off-season departures, the new-look Dalhousie Tigers got off to a great start tonight with a convincing 3-0 win over the Acadia Axewomen in the Dalhousie women's volleyball invitational on Friday night. Anna Dunn-Suen had a monster game with 15 kills and was named the player of the game.

Sarah Ross had seven kills in the loss for the Axewomen, while Hillary Monette added 11 digs.

Anna Dunn-Suen opened the game with a kill that painted the line after a lengthy rally to start the game. The Tigers, who dominated the first set as they went on to win 25-13. Jessica Josenhans had four kills in the set for the Tigers.

Dunn-Suen picked up where she left off in the second set, basting a kill past the Axewomen that opened the set 1-0 for the Tigers. The Tigers jumped out to another early lead, but the Axewomen came back to trim the lead to three at 10-7, but the Tigers opened up the lead to 15-7 as the teams went into the technical timeout. The Tigers couldn't be stopped as they went on to win 25-12.

The Axewomen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third set as both sides amped up their game. They fought tooth and nail for each point, and the Tigers held a 16-11 lead going into the technical timeout. The Tigers would go on to win the final set 25-15 with yet another kill by Dunn-Suen.

Acadia will look to bounce back when they play Memorial tomorrow at 12:30pm while the Tigers face the University of Moncton at 3:00pm.
