Brendan Hebert's triple from well beyond the three-point line snapped a late tie as the University of Regina's men's basketball team scored a 67-60 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West game at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Hebert's three-pointer came with 33 seconds remaining, and Paul Gareau iced the contest by hitting four consecutive free throws in the game's waning moments.

The seven-point advantage that the Cougars built up after Gareau's final free throw was the largest for either team in a fourth quarter that saw three lead changes. Neither team led by double digits at any point during the contest, which saw the Cougars shoot 32% from the field compared to Lethbridge's 31%.

“We really ground this one out tonight,” Cougars head coach James Hillis said. “It's nice to win a game at the defensive end, and that's the second time in the last two weeks we've done that. We strung together enough stops to get the win, and we'll have to continue to do that to continue to win.”

Gareau ended up with 20 points for the Cougars and grabbed nine rebounds to fall just one board shy of the double-double. Kris Heshka had 11 points for the Cougars before fouling out in the fourth quarter for the third consecutive game.

Danhue Lawrence hit all three of his team's three-pointers and scored 19 for Lethbridge while adding 10 rebounds to secure the game's lone double-double. Randy Davis had 14 points and a game-high four blocks, while Derek Waldner had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Both teams were unable to get much of a perimeter game going, as Lethbridge ended up shooting 3-for-15 from three-point land while the Cougars were 4-for-23.

The win improves Regina's record to 4-0 as the Cougars remain the only undefeated team in the conference. Lethbridge falls to 1-5 with the loss.

The Cougars will travel to Langley, B.C. next weekend for a pair of games against Trinity Western. Lethbridge returns home to host Saskatchewan.
