Capers top Panthers Saturday night
Panthers unable to contain Capers Saturday night.
Sydney, NS - The Cape Breton University CAPERS came out of the gates firing on all cylinders and kept it up all game as the CAPERS defeated the UPEI Panthers for the team's first win of the season. Leading the way for the home squad was Osman Omar (Mississauga, ON) who shot 7/10 in the first quarter, and finished the evening with a game-high 29 points. As for the Panthers, Dakelle Brooks (East Preston, NS) was the leading point scorer with 11 points.
Turning point - The CAPERS started the game on fire, scoring 33 points in the first quarter and shot just under 70% from the field as a team in the opening 10 minutes. The CAPERS would continue building their lead as the game went on. The CAPERS largest lead was 63 points.
Individual Leaders
- Osmar Omar finished as the top scorer, with 29 points.
- Paul Watson (Mississauga, ON) was impressive off the bench scoring 20 points on 7/9 shooting from the field, and 2/2 from behind the line.
- Dakelle Brooks was the only player for the Panthers to score over double digits, ending the night with 11.
