Capers rout Acadia 93- 57

(SYDNEY, N.S.) - The Cape Breton University Capers extended their win streak to four games after routing the Acadia Axewomen in AUS women's basketball action at Sullivan Fieldhouse on Saturday night. The Capers' offence exploded on their way to a 93-57 victory.

Colleen Keane and Allison Keough led the Capers to their highest point total of the season.

Keane took home Subway player of the game honours, scoring 25 points on 10-12 shooting, all while racking up nine rebounds.

Keough, the reigning CIS rookie of the year, kept up her near double-double pace with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Another Cape Breton native had an admirable performance on Saturday night, as Hannah Brown notched 11 points in the CBU win.

Paloma Anderson paced the Acadia offence in just her third game with the team, netting 14 points in the losing effort.

Tamara Dondi contributed 12 points off of the bench, while Allie Berry had an impressive eight points to go along with her nine rebounds in the game.

The Capers were in control of the game throughout, coupling their stellar defence with some impressive ball movement on the offensive end.

"Everything coach (Fabian MacKenzie) was telling us to do was working and we were getting buckets (on offence), so we just kept going back to what was working," said Keane.

CBU's win streak has now extended to four games after two wins at Memorial and a road win against rival StFX.

The Capers will now turn their focus to their matchup with StFX at Sullivan Fieldhouse this upcoming Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Axewomen will look to win their first game of the season in their next match up when they host the undefeated Saint Mary's Huskies on Wednesday.
