The University of Regina's men's basketball team hosts the Calgary Dinos this weekend at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport in a battle of two 4-4 teams.

Tip-off is scheduled for both Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's game.

The Cougars started the season on a four-game undefeated streak after home sweeps over Brandon and Lethbridge, but have since dropped four consecutive road games to fall to .500 for the season.

Paul Gareau comes into the weekend as the Cougars' top scorer, as the third-year forward averages 14.1 points per game and shoots a team-high 52.6% from the field. Fifth-year post Kris Heshka also averages in the double digits for the Cougars, scoring 11 points and pulling down a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game.

Jeff Lukomski missed three games while pulling double duty with the U of R's football team, but averages 10.8 points per game and still could take a run at the school's all-time points lead. Lukomski trails Glen Nelson's career mark of 1422 points by 181 points and needs to average about 11.5 points per game over the remaining 16 contests to overtake Nelson.

Calgary has recorded splits in all four of its weekend series so far. The Dinos have split with Victoria and Winnipeg on the road and Lethbridge and Brandon at home, putting them into a tie with the Cougars for seventh place in the Canada West standings.

The Dinos are led by 6'9” fourth-year guard Tyler Fidler, who ranks seventh in Canada West with an average of 18 points per game. He's also the league's leading rebounder, as he averages 13.4 boards per game and has led the Dinos in rebounding in all eight games this season.

Andrew McGuinness is the team's most dangerous perimeter threat, as the second-year guard averages 14.5 points per game and is 19-for-51 (.373) from three-point land. Keenan Milburn, Dustin Reding, and rookie forward Matt Letkeman (Yale Secondary) have joined Fidler and McGuinness in the starting five in seven of Calgary's eight games this season.
