Your Laurentian Voyageurs Men's hockey team took this November 30th and December 1st weekend to play a rather familiar UQTR Patriotes hockey squad.
UQTR are always a contender in the OUA East but leading up to this season have not had the success they've had in previous years.
The Vees approached this set of games opened minded as they play UQTR back to back, away.
UQTR is known for their extreme ability to score and that they did so against the Voyageurs Mackenzie Savard. UQTR was able to score six minutes in and then another six minutes after. Julian Gagne was able to solve the Voyageurs penalty kill and Deven St-Hilaire would add goal number two to give UQTR a two goal lead.
The Voyageurs captain, Nicolas Dionne would cut into the UQTR lead by scoring just eleven seconds after the second UQTR goal. Richard Therrien would pick up the one and only assist on Dionne's twelfth goal of the season.
UQTR would add a third goal in just the first period as Guillaume Beaudoin would score with just one minute-thirty seconds left and ending the first period 3-1 UQTR.
The Voyageurs came out strong and fast and the score board was able to show the effort as Richard Therrien scored his seventh goal of the season. Therrien was able to solve Sebastien Auger, for a 3-2 UQTR game.
Unfortunately, UQTR would let their legs stretch out and and add two more goals giving the UQTR a 5-2 final win.
The Voyageurs have a chance at redemption tomorrow evening against the Patriotes for an opportunity to split the weekend 1-1 and closing out this 2018 set of games.
