Sea-Hawks win big over Capers

(St. John's, NL) – The Memorial Sea-Hawks (4-1) topped the Cape Breton Capers (0-5) 90-69 at The Field House on Saturday night in AUS men's basketball action.

Kenny Jean-Louis led the charge for the Capers in the opening quarter scoring 8 of the teams 19 points, which gave them a 19-11 advantage to start the game.

Memorial quickly responded in the second quarter, with Davion Parnsalu once again shouldering the offensive load, dropping 8 points in the frame.  Daniel Gordon and Austin Chambers chipped in the 5 points each, which was enough to put the Sea-Hawks up 35-33 at the half.

The Sea-Hawks would open the second half on a 17-6 run after rookie Nathan Barker dropped 8 of the first 10 points in the quarter for the home side.  Barker finished the game with a career high 20 points.  Memorial outscored Cape Breton 32-13 in the third and would cruise the rest of the way to secure the win.

Davion Parnsalu led all scorers with 23 points, while also supplying 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  Daniel Gordon finished with 12 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

Jean-Louis was the top scorer for the Capers finishing with 17 points and 8 rebounds.  Blake Gallatly played well in the loss for the Capers and finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

The Sea-Hawks and Capers are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm at The Field House.
