Sea-Hawks swept by Tigers

(HALIFAX N.S.) - The Dalhousie Tigers won their second battle of the weekend against the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Sunday November 6 at the Dalplex. This weekend sweep raised the Tigers overall season record to 3-2 and gave the Sea-Hawks their fifth consecutive loss on the season.  

The Tigers opened the game tallying a quick four points before Sea-Hawks player Jordan Murray got the team on the board. At the technical time out, the Tigers had a six point lead over the Sea-Hawks with a score of 16-10. Sea-Hawks player Liam Power came out after the time out and crushed a vicious spike to cut the Tigers lead to five.  

Memorial started to gain momentum near the end of the set prompting the Tigers to call a time out, the score at this point was 20-16 Tigers.  

The Sea-Hawks only got two more points after this quick break and Dal closed out the first set with a score of 25-18.  

Memorial came out strong in the second set as they took a quick lead with the first few points. This lead would not last long as Dal went on an electrifying point streak and tallied a total of seven points. This point streak was led by Kristen O'Brien who had a hot hand as the server during this time.  

At the technical time out the Tigers led the Sea-Hawks 16-9. The Sea-Hawks mimicked their first set performance and took back momentum from the Tigers causing them to call another time out. 

The Tigers would not deteriorate as they held on to the lead and closed out the second set 25-17. 

Memorial came out aggressive in the third and recorded a four-point streak, courtesy of Sebastien Sauve's serving touch.  This applied some serious pressure on the Tigers and allowed the game to play out in some exciting back and forth action.  

The Sea-Hawks lost the lead to the Tigers during the second half of the set and would ultimately drop the game by a final set score of 25-18.  

The Subway player of the game was Tigers player Kristen O'Brien. O'Brien, along with Tigers teammate Matthew Donovan, both had a team high 13.5 points throughout the match.  

The Sea-Hawks point leader of the game was Jordan Murray who recorded a total of 17.5 points. Murray also had an impressive 16 kills and two digs.  

The Tigers are back in action on the road Friday November 18 to take on the UNB Varsity reds. Game time is 7:30 pm.  

The Memorial Sea-Hawks are back at home Saturday November 12 to take on the UNB Varsity Reds.
