The No. 3 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team kept their undefeated record alive with a dominant 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) victory over the Queen's Gaels in their 9th annual Think Pink match on Friday night (Jan. 29) at Goldring Centre.

The Blues (13-0) remain atop the OUA East division standings with six regular season games remaining.

Fifth-year libero Denise Wooding notched a game-high 20 digs, while fourth-year setter Madelyn Mandryk tallied 28 assists, 15 digs, two kills and one ace on the night.

Rookie Alina Dormann continued her stellar play, leading all players with 14 points on 10 kills, two aces and two blocks, while also adding seven digs. Third-year middle Tessa Davis had 13 points on six kills, four aces and three blocks, while Caleigh Cruickshank recorded eight kills and one block.

Veteran and co-captain Bojana Radan notched six kills and four blocks in the victory.

The Blues got off to a dominant start, leading 14-6 in the early goings. The Gaels rallied and brought the set within four, but the Blues took a 16-11 lead into the technical timeout. U of T took over from there and a couple of Davis aces ended the frame 25-16.

Queen's held the upperhand early in the second set, building a 5-1 advantage. The Blues bounced back to even the score at 7-7. The two teams went back and forth and some late work from Dormann put the Blues up 16-14 at the break. U of T surged ahead, ending the set on a 7-0 run to take it 25-18.

Toronto found themselves ahead 7-2, thanks to some great play from Radan, and led the Gaels 16-10 at the technical timeout. A final kill from Dormann sealed Toronto's 13th straight victory, 25-17.

Queen's was led by Shannon Neville's nine kills and 10 digs in the loss.

Varsity Blues swimmer Nathalin Moy and former football player and current CFL'er Alex Pierzchalski cut their hair during the first set break in support of U of T's Think Pink campaign. Moy raised over $400 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Varsity Blues women's soccer and field hockey teams also squared off in a mini volleyball match at the second set break to support the cause.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night (Jan. 30) when they host the RMC Paladins at Goldring Centre. Opening serve is set for 6 p.m.
