COLLYER SHINES IN LOSS TO HAWKS

First-year forward Charlotte Collyer recorded a season-high 15 points and eight rebounds as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dropped a 79-62 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday night (Feb. 6) at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

The Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by Air Miles was on hand for an evening full of contests, prizes and more! The Toronto Raptor and Raptors Dance Pak ran the show, where contestants competed to win a trip to the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto.

Toronto's loss drops them to 5-9, but they remain in third place in the OUA East division, while the Hawks improve to 7-8 and sit third in the West division.

Collyer went 7-for-13 from the floor, adding eight boards and two steals on the night. Fourth-year veteran Alanna Garner notched 13 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while third-year guard Rahshida Atkinson added 13 points, four boards and four steals in the loss.

Laurier was paced by Nicole Morrison, who recorded a game-high 20 points and five rebounds, while Kaitlyn Schenck had 16 points and five assists in the victory.

The Varsity Blues return to the court next Friday, February 12 when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at Goldring Centre. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. The Blues will honour graduating player Abena Addo in a special post-game ceremony.
