(HALIFAX, N.S.)- The Saint Mary's Huskies punched their ticket to the 2014 Subway women's volleyball championship final with an emphatic 3-0 win over the fourth-seed UNB Varsity Reds on Saturday evening at the Dalplex.

Set scores were 27-25, 25-12, 25-17.

With the win, the Huskies will face a formidable opponent in the Dalhousie Tigers in the final at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Huskies will look to win their third championship in five years.

The Varsity Reds battled hard early, nearly coming out on top in a tightly contested first set, but the powerful Huskies muscled their way to come away with the victory.

First team all-star Shelby Michaels earned the Subway Player of the Game honours after leading her team with 12 kills and 14.5 points. Rachel Windhorst was right behind her, adding 10 kills and 12.5 points in the win.

Rebecca Glancy earned Subway Player of the Game honours for the Varsity Reds after registering 10 kills and 11 points, while Celina Abba and Jacqueline Sebetovsk each chipped in with six kills of their own.

The Huskies head into the final against their bitter rival, and will need to follow up today's strong effort with another top notch game. The Huskies defeated the Tigers in their first regular season game this season, coming back to win in five sets, but the Tigers came out on top in their last matchup, winning 3-0 on Feb. 10.
