OSHAWA, Ont. – Despite outshooting the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs for the entirety of the game, the UOIT Ridgebacks men's hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision Saturday night at home.
Fifth-year forward Nicolas Dionne recorded a hat-trick for the Voyageurs, helping to lift them to their third win of the season.
The score sat at 4-0 in favour of the visitors after 40 minutes of play. Needing a huge third period, the Ridgebacks strong special teams allowed them to bring the game within two goals, unfortunately the clock ran out and they were unable to complete the comeback.
The Ridgebacks had their chances, outshooting the Voyageurs 36-22 on the evening.
Looking ahead to their next game, the Ridgebacks will head to Kingston where they will face off against the RMC Paladins on Friday, Nov. 9. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
• Nicolas Dionne led his team in scoring recording three of the four Voyageur goals on the night. The first early in the opening 20 minutes, while the other two came midway through the second period.
• Jarett Meyer rounded out the scoring Voyageurs, capitalizing on a second period powerplay.

Jordan Ross (Kronau, Sask.) was the lone goal scorer for the Ridgebacks, netting both of their goals during third period powerplays. Ross now has four goals and two assists early in his second year with the Ridgebacks.

Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.) had the start in net for UOIT, making 18 saves on the night.
• Michael Giugovaz made 34 saves in the win for the Voyageurs, including a 15 save opening frame.
