KINGSTON, Ont. – Two goals by a pair of rookies and a standout performance from the netminder, led the Ontario Tech women's hockey team to a 2-1 victory over the Queen's Gaels.
The Ridgebacks collected their second regulation victory of the season, both coming against the Gaels, who were eager to avenge the 4-0 shutout from earlier in the season. A standout performance by
Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) in the Ridgebacks net provided the stability needed to weather the home side's attack.
It was
Brooklyn Duff (Smithville, Ont.) who recorded her first career OUA goal, which evened the game mid-way through the second period, while
Nicole Escano (Kingston, Ont.), another rookie, potted the winning goal.
The Ridgebacks will look to continue their strong second half when they travel to the Kitchener/Waterloo region for a Thursday night match against the Laurier Golden Hawks.
• Hailey Wilson opened the scoring for the Gaels, with a power play marker.
• Duff cleaned-up a rebound in front from a

Katie Heath (Elora, Ont.) had a great short-handed rush.
