Hawks Earn Another Home Court Victory

(St. John's, NL) The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's volleyball secured another home court victory with a 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21) defeat of the Moncton Aigles Bleus on Saturday night at The Field House.

Leading the way for the Sea-Hawks tonight was Kier Fey who registered game-high's in kills and points, with 18 and 20.5 respectively.  Sarah Dawe finished with 9 kills, 14 digs, and 12 points in the victory.

Alison Poynter was instrumental in tonight's home court win, providing 46 assists, 11 digs, 2 aces, and 4 points.  Lauren Fenez led the Hawks in digs on the night, finishing with 29.

Moncton received great performances from Christelle Bertin and Pascale Doiron.  Bertin led the way in kills for the Aigles Bleus with 13, while Doiron was next up with 12.  Sophie Bastarache dished out 35 assists in the loss and played strong on the defensive end with 13 digs.

The win pushes the Sea-Hawks record to 2-0 so far in the season, while Moncton drops to 1-2. The victory helps the Sea-Hawks stay tied with Dalhousie for top spot in the AUS standings.

The Subway Player of the Game was Jordan Hutchison from the Sea-Hawks. Hutchison played a superb all-around game for the Sea-Hawks, supplying 6 kills, 2 aces, 3 blocks, and 10 points.

The Sea-Hawks and Aigles Bleus will wrap up the three-game weekend series tomorrow afternoon at 1pm at The Field House.  The match will also be available on AUStv.ca
