(FREDERICTON, NB) No comeback required. This time, the UNB Varsity Reds left little to doubt. 

The Varsity Reds scored a 93-79 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Sunday. 

The victory came less than 24 hours after UNB rallied from a 20 point deficit to stun the Hawks 89-78 on Saturday. 

Sunday saw the Varsity Reds waste little time in establishing a different tone. 

Down 11-6 early in the first quarter, the VReds went on a seven point run to take a 13-11 lead. 

The Sea-Hawks tied it 13-13 before UNB erupted with a 16-0 run, driving their lead to 29-13 early in the second quarter. 

Chris Spurrell(Rothesay, NB) scored 12 first half points as the Varsity Reds led 51-30 at the break. 

The Sea-Hawks were able to close the gap in the second half, but couldn't mount any sort of sustained pressure. 

Javon Masters(Kitchener, ON) scored a game-high 23 points and added 9 rebounds to earn Subway Player of the Game honours. 

"I had a feeling some of the guys were going to make their shots," said Masters. "Everyone was focused, everyone was ready to bang shots and it was a good team win." 

Donnavan Hastings(Brampton, ON) came off the bench to score 15, before being ejected following a fourth-quarter altercation. 

Vasilije Curcic(Kragujevac, SER) led Memorial with 18 points. 

Curcic and UNB's Stephon Smith(New Orleans, LA) were also ejected, with Hastings, in the fourth quarter. 

With the win, the Varsity Reds improve to 7-5 on the season. 

"Everyone stepped up," said Masters. "Hess(Mayele) played pretty well, Jesse(Kendall) played well, Chris Spurrell played well, so it was a whole team effort and this was a big one for us, this was a big weekend for us." 

Memorial drops to 7-5. 

"We didn't play as aggressive as we needed to," said Sea-Hawks head coach Peter Benoite. "I felt the game was very physical, which was different than yesterday(Saturday), and I think that was in their favour." 

Varsity Reds head coach Brent Baker liked Sunday's effort. 

"We earned our 20 point lead," he said. "But most teams forget what gets you the lead and we took our foot off the gas a little bit and then we got caught up in unnecessary fouls and things like that at the end of the game. That made it a lot closer than it had to be." 

Next up for the Sea-Hawks, a pair of home games Saturday and Sunday against St. FX, the top team in the Atlantic University Sport standings. 

The Varsity Reds travel to Dalhousie on Saturday, for a four-point match.
