Tough second half sinks Gaels

BOX SCORE TORONTO (January 28, 2012) - The Gaels came up just short in Toronto versus the Ryerson Rams on Saturday night despite 21 points from Nikola Misljencevic of Ottawa.  The final score of the game was 73-68.

The Gaels played one of their best first halves of the season, keeping the Rams within two points after the first quarter and dominating the second. They led the Rams by 8 going into the break after outscoring Ryerson by 10 points in the second quarter.

The Rams fought back in the second half with consecutive 24 point quarters. By the end of the third, the Gaels watched as their lead was narrowed to just a single point. The fourth quarter was all Rams, as they outscored the Gaels 24-18 to lead to the Gaels defeat. The Gaels were still able to produce offensively, scoring over 16 poitns in both periods, however they had no answer for the Rams on defence. 

Misljencevic had a team and game high 21 which included 4/4 shooting from three point range and 7/12 shooting from the floor. Ryan Golden of Barrie, Ont. added 15 points from the backcourt for the Gaels and led the team in rebounds with five. 

Jordon Gauthier of Windsor, Ont., led the Rams with a team high 17 points and five rebounds.

The Gaels are back in action Friday evening versus RMC in the first game of a back to back weekend. Tipoff is set for 8:00 pm at RMC.
