The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team dropped a tough fought 1-0 contest with the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks Sunday afternoon (Sept. 4)  at Varsity Stadium.

The Ridgebacks pressured the Varsity Blues for much of the first half with midfielder Rhiannon Kissel breaking through on a U of T miscue to score the game's only goal in the 8th minute.

Following the early goal both teams continued to exchange opportunities with neither squad being able to find an opening.

Toronto goalkeeper Tori Edgar finished with five saves, including several challenging efforts courtesy of the long through ball attack of the Ridgebacks.

Meanwhile, UOIT keeper Helen Frampton recorded three saves with many coming in the final minutes as the Blues looked for the elusive equalizer.

The Varsity Blues will look to bounce back next weekend when they head to the nation's capital to take on the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees on September 10 and 11. Both games kickoff at 1 p.m.
