The No. 7 University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team defeated the visiting Trent Excalibur 2-0 Saturday (Sept. 3) afternoon at Varsity Stadium pushing their perfect start to the OUA season to three games.

Fourth-year midfielder Nikolay Saveliev scored the game-winner early in the 5th minute. Using a nice first touch off his chest, Saveliev set himself up for a clean look at the Excalibur net beating Trent goalkeeper David Ellis.

From there Toronto would continue to pressure, mounting several strong attacks. Fourth-year striker Antonio Ajhert would break through in the 49th minute to add an insurance marker, battling the Excalibur backline before finishing to make it 2-0.

U of T goalkeeper Mark Rogal would be tested a few times in the match by the Excalibur, but each time incredible effort kept the clean sheet. Rogal finished the match with six saves.

Ellis recorded one save for Trent.

The Varsity Blues will now look to push their undefeated streak to four to begin the season taking on the UOIT Ridgebacks tomorrow (Sept. 4) afternoon at Varsity Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
