WOLFVILLE, N.S. – The U SPORTS No. 2 ranked Axewomen remain undefeated following a 94-48 win over the visiting Dalhousie Tigers and improve to 5-0.

Haley McDonald led the way for the Axewomen with 23 points that included 12 from the three-point perimeter.

"This whole semester we talked about how in every game we play, we are getting better or getting worse, but never staying the same. We focused on denying their passes and taking away the lanes to force them to make difficult shots. We really keyed on a few players and think we did a good job taking away some of the looks they wanted tonight," said McDonald following the game.

The Axewomen delivered a 15-0 run in the opening of the first quarter, pulling out to a commanding 17-3 lead and eventual 30-13 lead and the end of the opening frame.

Conference leading scorer, Paloma Anderson, netted nine points in the opening quarter and added only four more points in a season low 17 minutes of play.

Turnovers played a huge factor in the lopsided score. The young Tigers had 27 turnovers and the Axewomen capitalized on most with 34 points off of turnovers.

Subway Player of the Game, Allie Berry, pulled down 10 boards, added five steals and four blocks to her 10 point game.

Kelsey Rice and Chanel Smith added 12 and 11 points respectively and off the bench, Ellen Hatt knocked down 10 points that included two 3-point baskets.

Sophie Gaube led the Tigers with 10 points and Michele Tchiakoua posted a team high seven rebounds. Ariel Provo had four steals and nine points in the Tigers' loss.

The Axewomen and Tigers will meet up against this Saturday evening at Dalhousie for their second meeting of the week. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at the Dalplex.
