CHARLOTTETOWN PE- It was a tough windy day for the offensive world of UPEI Women's Rugby, as the number one ranking team in Canada shut them out of any possible hope.
The St. FX XWomen began to score trys right off the start, leaving UPEI in the dust for majority of the game. It was a clear cut 90-0 win for the Subway Canada Player of the game #11 June Beals, and her team on Saturday at the MacAdam field in Charlottetown. She may have not scored a try for her respective team, but her offensive strenght and speed was a major contributing factor for the XWomen.
St. FX- Joanna Alphonso, Sarah McCarron, Carolyn Williams, Sophie Parker, Miranda Sample, Merrit Blair, Jaele Meyer, Sammy Nadeau and Keeley MacCush each received one try each for the XWomen. In addtion to those single try's StFX had Danielle Franada contribute to their win with two try's and ten conversions while Carleigh Walters added in three try's for herself.
UPEI- The Panthers would see no offence against the tough St. FX team from any of their top players resulting in no marks on the gamesheet.
The next time the two teams will meet will be on the 1st of October for a 2:00pm start time. Next week the Panthers are back at home on Saturday Sept. 23rd with Saint Mary's in town and St. FX will see Acadia on home soil for a 2:00pm Sept 23rd game.
