Horns-Bisons Stats

by Sean Angus, U of Manitoba Sports Info Assistant

WINNIPEG - The Manitoba Bisons men’s basketball team grabbed an early lead and never backed down on their way to a 106-80 win over the Lethbridge Horns on Friday at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.

With the win, the Bisons move to 8-9, now four points clear of eighth place Fraser Valley. The loss is a definite setback in the Horns’ playoff pursuit. The Horns, now 5-14, remain three points back of a playoff spot.

Sean Maxwell made his presence known Friday night, scoring 31 points, the most out of any player in Friday’s contest. Kevin Oliver also played a key role in the Bisons’ win, scoring 26 points.

On the other end, Derek Waldner played great for the Horns, scoring 26 points and earning 10 rebounds on the night. Waldner’s superb performance, however, was no match for Manitoba’s high-powered offence.

The teams will tip off again on Saturday night as they go at it again at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
