Douglas nets two, Huskies top Mounties 7-2

(Halifax, NS) The Saint Mary's Huskies topped the Mount Allison Mounties 7-2 Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

Subway player of the game Sarah Douglas (Whitby, ON) got two goals for the Huskies.

Caitlyn Schell (Waterford, ON) also scored twice and Haylee Tretiak (Teulon, MB) had two assists to lead a strong offensive outing for Saint Mary's

Justine McIntosh (East St. Paul, MA) made 22 saves to lead the Huskies' defensive performance in the contest.  The Huskies outshot the Mounties 35-24.

Saint Mary's opened the scoring early in the first, with Douglas and Brianna Soper (Oshawa, ON) picking up goals in the first 1:07 to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Huskies scored 3 more goals in the first to take a 5-0 lead into the first intermission. The two teams traded goals in the second period to make the score 6-1 after 40 minutes. In the third, after Mount Allison scored to bring the score to 6-2, Schell potted an insurance goal for the Huskies.

Kelly Matarazzo (Winnipeg, MB) had a goal and an assist, while Jennifer Dillion (Summerside, PEI) had the other goal for Mount Allison.

Megan Colpitts (Riverview, NB) stopped 4 shots in 12:46 of work starting in net for the Mounties.

The Huskies' next game is on October 31st against The St. Thomas Tommies at 7:00 pm at Alumni Arena, MTA next play on the 31st also against the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues at 7:00 pm in Sackville.
