Capers defeat X-Women 82-63

Sydney, NS – The Cape Breton Capers defeated the StFX X-Women in their home opener 82–63 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

Cape Breton were led by fifth year forward Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) with 33 points and 10 rebounds. The Capers used a pressure defence to force 31 turnovers by StFX. The X-Women were led in scoring by Kimberly Kingsbury who had 17 points.

The turning point in the game came when the Capers limited the X-Women to just 12 points in the third quarter and increased their first half-lead to 13 points by the end of the period.

Brown led all players in the game in scoring with 33 points, and she also led in rebounds with 10. CBU's Toni Bianchini (Groves Point, NS) had a game high six assists. StFX's Brianna Gottschall and Jamie McCarron each had three 3-pointers.

The Subway Player of the Game was Hannah Brown.

The Capers improve to 3-0 on the season and remain one of two unbeaten teams in the AUS. The X-Women drop to 0-3 on the season. Up Next the Capers next host the UNB Reds on November 16th at the Sullivan Fieldhouse, with tip-off at 6:00 pm. The X-Women will travel to Dalhousie on Wednesday, November 14th to play the Tigers, also at 6:00 pm.
