MONTREAL -- The McGill University women's hockey team didn't get mad, they got even. Defenceman
Brittney Fouracres scored the game-winner and goaltender
Taylor Hough merited a goose-egg as McGill blanked Carleton 2-0 at McConnell Arena, Sunday.
The result avenged a 1-0 loss at Carleton on Friday, McGill's first-ever road loss to the Ravens in school history. Now that the universe appears back to normal, the Martlets imprroved their overall record to 83-2-1 in head-to-head competition with Carleton.
This time around the Martlets outshot Carleton 44-12 as Hough registered her second career shutout in 22 regular-season appearances over her four seasons.
Fouracres broke open a scoreless battle in the second period, converting a three-way passing play from
Melodie Daoust and
Gabrielle Davidson to connect on the power-play at 8:13. It was her first of the season but more importantly, McGill's first of the campaign with an extra attacker, snapping an 0-for-23 streak.
Davidson added an insurance marker, her second of the season, midway through the final period, with Daoust and
Marie-Philip Lavoie drawing assists.
McGill (3-2) plays next at Concordia (3-2-1) on Nov. 20.
