Sea-Hawks can't hold early lead

The Memorial Sea-Hawks were swept in AUS volleyball action on Sunday afternoon at The Field House.  The Sea-Hawks jumped out to an early one set to zero lead on the UNB Varsity Reds, but UNB were able to win the following three sets to finish the weekend sweep.

The match was highlighted by an exciting first set with both teams exchanging leads throughout.  The Varsity Reds pushed the score to 25 to 24, but the Sea-Hawks were able to cue a comeback with a kill by Jordan Murray to tie the match.  Cody Harvey followed that point with a huge block to give the Sea-Hawks the lead.  Jordan Knee would close out the set with a kill for the home side.

The Varsity Reds however did not panic and would take the next three sets 25-20, 25-13, and 25-19.  UNB was once again led by reigning AUS MVP Eivind Andersen who had a game-high 19 kills and 22 points.  UNB Setter Kent Doucette was the leader in assists, finishing with 40.

Memorial were led by Liam Power and Jordan Murray.  Power had a team-high 15 kills, with Murray providing 11 in a losing effort.

The Sea-Hawks record drops to 0 and 7 on the season, while UNB is in top spot in the AUS with a 3 and 2 record.

Both teams are now on Christmas break, with the Sea-Hawks back in action on January 13th for AUS-RSEQ interlock play at Dalhousie University.
