TORONTO -- Western defeated McGill 3-1 to capture the men's division of the Old Four soccer tournament for the second consecutive year, at UofT's Varsity Centre on Sunday, .

The Mustangs jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half, taking advantage of a McGill starting lineup that was composed primarily of freshmen.

Striker Jacob Peplinski opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play, breaking through a pair of McGill defenders before slipping the ball past rookie goalkeeper Valere Demelier. Then just four minutes later, Parker Seymour continued his incredible tournament performance scoring his third goal of the weekend on a beautiful effort from the top of the 18-yard box.

The Redmen made liberal substitutions at halftime and early in the second half, midfielder Alexandre De Santis, a physical education senior from St. Mathias-sur-Richelieu, Que., took advantage of a scramble in front of Western keeper Ben Cowman to cut into the Mustangs lead. However, just three minutes later, Mark Serjeant reclaimed a two goal lead for the Mustangs.

Cowman played all 90 minutes to earn the win for Western. Demelier started for McGill and was charged with the loss, conceding two goals in 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Antoine Marchal played the second half and was beaten once.

In the consolation game, Toronto overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Queen's 5-1

McGill, which dropped to 1-2 in preseason play, will have one more tune-up before the regular season begins. The Redmen will host Ahuntsic College at Percival Molson Stadium on Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. The game will be preceded by a women's contest between St. Michael's College and the Martlets at 6 p.m.
