EDMONTON - Kruise Reddick's double-overtime bullet deflected past Calgary Dinos' goalie Jacob DeSerres to complete the #1 Alberta Golden Bears' 3-2 comeback victory in front of 2,260 fans in Clare Drake Arena on Saturday.
 
Calgary slides into first place in the Canada West standings, with a 13-0-1 record, while Alberta occupies second place, one point back of the Dinos, via a 13-1-0 record.

Reddick, a third-year centre from Manor, Saskatchewan, took a pass from fifth-year defenceman Ian Barteaux, raced up the wing, and unleashed a slapshot that ricocheted off a Dinos' defender stick and over the shoulder of DeSerres for the game winner at 3:40 of the second overtime period, which is the 3-on-3 session.
 
Walker Wintoneak and Chris Collins, scored on Alberta goaltender Luke Siemens.
 
Jordan Hickmott and Jordan Rowley scored the other goals for Alberta.
 
Both teams will be back in action next weekend when they wrap-up the first term with home dates. The Bears will host the Manitoba Bisons next weekend in Edmonton, while the Dinos take on the Regina Cougars in Calgary.

Bisons-Thunderbirds Stats

VANCOUVER – Despite playing one of the best games in recent weeks, the UBC Thunderbirds men's hockey team left the ice with yet another loss, dropping its second of two games against the Manitoba Bisons by a score of 6-4. The Thunderbirds fought back on two occasions being down but two goals in the second half of the third period gave Manitoba the win Saturday night.
 
The Bisons got goals from six different players: Jordan DePape, Jesse Paradis, Aaron Lewadniuk, Brendan Rowinski, Luke Cain and Ian Duval.
 
Neil Manning, Nate Fleming, Luke Lockhart and Greg Fraser tallied for UBC.
 
The Thunderbirds are currently in the midst of a five-game slump dating back to early November. With the loss, UBC falls to 3-10-1 and have surrendered six goals in three of its past four contests.
 
The Manitoba Bisons see their winning streak continue, now at four games after stumbling out of the gate to start the season. The Bisons' remain on the road as they travel to Edmonton to face off one of the best teams in the CIS, the 13-1-0 Alberta Golden Bears.

Mount Royal 6 Lethbridge 5 (SO)

Pronghorns-Cougars Stats

CALGARY – The Mount Royal Cougars defeated the Lethbridge Pronghorns 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday at the Flames Community Arenas.

Cody Cartier led the way with three goals for the Cougars, while Derek Huisman and Brendan Turnbull each added one of their own. Brock Hirsche (2), Guillame Naud, Hayden Rintoul and David McMullen all scored for the Pronghorns. Matt Brown scored the shootout winner for Mount Royal.

Mount Royal now holds a record of 6-7-1.  The Pronghorns are now 1-12-1.

Lethbridge will head back home next weekend where they will host UBC for a two game set starting on Friday November 29th. The Cougars are off to Saskatoon next weekend for two games against the Huskies. Face off for the first game will be 7:00 p.m., on Friday November 29th at Saskatchewan.

Golden Bears-Dinos Stats

CALGARY – In front of an electric crowd of 531 fans on Friday night at the Father David Bauer Arena, the CIS #2 Calgary Dinos stunned the #1 Alberta Golden Bears with a 2-0 win, handing them their first loss of the season and extending their own undefeated streak to 13 games.

It was a contest being talk about around the city and across the country, two 12-0-0 teams, the only in defeated clubs in the CIS, and another installment of the Battle of Alberta. The game didn't disappoint with both teams playing a tightly contested first 40 minutes before Calgary finally found the back of the net.
 
The Dinos now have a 13-0-0 record and claim top spot, alone, in Canada West. Alberta is now 12-1-0 as Calgary remains the only team to beat the Golden Bears all season, including two pre-season games in September.
 
Jacob DeSerres made 32 saves, while Taylor Stefishen and Kevin King found the net behind Alberta's Kurtis Mucha. Mucha made 24 stops.
 
These two teams will do it all over again tomorrow evening at the Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton. Puck drop is 6 p.m. with the game being streamed on CanadaWest.tv.

Bisons-Thunderbirds Stats

VANCOUVER, BC – The Manitoba Bisons doubled up the Thunderbirds 6-3 Friday night as Manitoba exploded for three goals in the third to put the game out of reach for UBC.

Luke Paulsen scored his first career CIS goal for the Bisons' who had four players score multi-point games.

The Bisons also got goals from Dylan Kelly, Jory Coates, Jeremy Schappert, Aaron Lewadniuk and Taylor Dickin got the other goals. Nick Buonassisi, Neil Manning and Joe Antilla replied for UBC.
 
The Thunderbirds fall to 3-9-1, now having lost four straight, look for a spark moving forward to get the team back to its winning ways. The Bisons are in a tie for fifth after improving their record to 5-7-1 with the win, their third straight.

UBC netminder Matt Hewitt finished the game with 31 saves on 37 shots losing to his counterpart, Joe Caligiuri, who made 22 of 25 saves on the night.
 
The Thunderbirds and Bisons are back in action tomorrow night for the second of a two-game series at 7 p.m. at Father David Bauer Arena.

Cougars-Pronghorns Stats

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Led by Devin Gannon, the Mount Royal Cougars mounted an impressive 4-1 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns, Friday night, at Nicholas Sheran arena in the first of a two-game home and home series.
 
Devin Gannon scored all four of the goals for Mount Royal, while Daniel Fainmann netted his first CIS marker for the lone goal for Lethbridge.

The last time a player registered a four-goal game in Canada Wes was Calgary's Torrie Wheat in a 10-1 wn versus UBC on September 27, 2008.

In net for the Cougars was Dalyn Flette, who managed to stop all but one of the 33 shots he faced. Damien Ketlo got the start for the Horns and faced 44 shots on the night.
 
The win pushes the Cougars record to 5-7-1, while the ‘Horns suffer their six loss in a row and fall to 1-12-0 on the season.
 
Game two of the home and home series goes on Saturday at Flames Community Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. and will also be broadcast live on http://canadawest.tv.

Cougars-Huskies Stats

SASKATOON - Regina Cougar Liam Brennan tallied with 42 seconds left in overtime on the power play to solidify a 4-3 win over the Saskatchewan Huskies Thursday at Rutherford Rink.
 
Brennan capitalized at 4:18 in the overtime frame when he buried a Ryan Holfeld rebound. The Cougars were on the man-advantage after Huskies' defenceman Matthew Delahey was caught for interference.
 
With the win, the Cougars improve to 8-6-0 on the season and sweep the series with the Huskies. A night earlier, the Cougars won 3-1 in Regina. Saskatchewan drops to 6-8-0.
 
Hayes made 38 saves in the Cougars' win, while Holfeld stopped 29 at the other end of the ice for the Huskies. Regina went 2-for-5 on the power play, while Saskatchewan failed to score on their four opportunities.
 
The Huskies remain at home to host the Mount Royal Cougars November 29-30, while the Regina travels to meet the Calgary Dinos.

REGINA - Three unanswered goals in the second period powered Regina to a 3-1 victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies on Wednesday night at The Co-operators Centre.

Two of the U of R's three goals were scored by Liam Brennan, while Brock Appleyard notched the other for the Cougars and goalie Lucas Gore made 30 saves to lock up his fourth win of the season. Brennan Bosch scored Saskatchewan's lone goal.

The Cougars (7-6-0) move into sole possession of third place in the Canada West standings, two points up on fourth-place Saskatchewan (6-7-0).

Saskatchewan pulled Holfeld with a minute and a half remaining, but weren't able to close the gap in the waning moments of the game. The Huskies ended up with a 31-22 advantage in shots.

The two teams will close out the two-game midweek set on Thursday night in Saskatoon.
