Box Score
MONTREAL -- Goaltender Alexandre Bélanger of Sherbrooke, Que., made 40 saves as No.7-ranked UQTR rallied to defeat McGill 3-1 in OUA men's hockey at McConnell Arena, Saturday.

The Redmen outshot their guests by a massive 41-24 margin and led 1-0 after two, but a hot goalie and a trio of third-period goals earned the visitors the win. It was UQTR's first win in three tries against McGill, which won a pair of preseason contests, 6-2 and 2-1.

Bélanger, a 6-foot-1, 191-pound recruit from the QMJHL's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, turned away a barrage of McGill shots, including 18 in the middle frame.

Redmen captain Patrick Delisle-Houde, a master's student in kinesiology and physical education from Quebec City, opened the scoring at 8:45 of the second period, assisted by Simon Tardif-Richard of Gatineau, Que., and Samuel Hodhod of Montreal.

UQTR's Jeremy Beaudry tied the score at 1-1 with a power-play marker just 87 seconds into the third. Martin Lefebvre gave the Patriotes a 2-1 lead at 14:26 on a jam-in from the side, and Marc-Olivier Mimar added an insurance tally with 2:22 remaining on a shot from a sharp angle.

McGill failed to capitalize on eight power play opportunities, while UQTR was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Redmen netminder Louis-Philip Guindon, a kinesiology freshman from St-Joseph-du-Lac, Que., took his first official loss as his record dropped to 3-1. He stopped 21 of 24 shots but only three of six in the final stanza..

McGill (3-2-0) will host Ottawa (1-5-0) on Oct. 28 as part of the Friends of McGill Hockey Homecoming Weekend at McConnell Arena. UQTR (4-2-0) hots Windsor (4-2-0) that evening.
