MHKY | Voyageurs Dominate Lakers in 5-1 Win

On Friday night, the Voyageurs won their third of three games this week after dominating the Nipissing Lakers 5-1.

The Voyageurs came out of the gates flying and scored their first goal of the game at 3:36 of the first. Cray Roberge tapped the puck home after a beautiful passing play by Blake Luscombe and Brad MacDonald. Six minutes later, the Vees tacked on to their lead when Brad MacDonald scored a goal of his own after picking up a rebound in the crease. Only six seconds after that, Luscombe scored to increase the lead to 3-0. Cray Roberge and Richard Therrien got the assists on that goal.

The action continued in the second, when Nicolas Thommen ripped a shot passed Laker goalie Domenic Graham. Dylan Fitze scored the fifth and final goal after receiving an absolute gift off a misplay from Graham at 15:02 of the period. The Voyageurs finished 40 minutes up 5-0.

Unfortunately for Charlie Millen, his shutout bid was spoiled with less then two minutes to go in the third period when he was beaten by Brock Morrison. Millen, who started all three games this week, was absolutely stellar in net and now leads the league in save percentage and goals against average.

Friday night's victory was the Voyageurs third win this week and are now tied for fourth place in the OUA Eastern Conference. The boys now have a full week of before heading to Montreal to face Concordia and McGill on November 4th and 5th.
