The St. Thomas University Tommies overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Dalhousie Tigers 4-3 in AUS women's hockey action at the Grant Harvey Center.

The Tommies went into the game with a 5-0-1 record and were coming off a win in their previous encounter with the Tigers a week ago in Halifax.

Dalhousie opened the scoring when Kayla Ogilvie blasted one past Tommies goaltender Abby Clarke. The attack did not stop there--that tally was followed by goals from Elizabeth MacArthur and Jesse Rietveld, enticing Tommies head coach Peter Murphy to call a timeout.

"We got our first shot at the 10:10 mark and at that point they had six shots," Murphy said. "From that point on we recorded the next 14 shots. We played well for 50 minutes."

After the timeout, the Tommies added two goals of their own. The first came from Danielle Ring and the second was from Emily Oleksuk, who deflected a shot on the power play.

With 7:40 left to in the game, Ring scored her second of the game to even the score at 3-3. Moments later, Becky Conner found a loose puck in the crease and tucked it past Dalhousie goaltender Jessica Severeyns to give the Tommies their first lead of the game.

"All I said after the game was that we had a bad start," Murphy said. "From then on we played our game and came out on top. We just have to play our game from the first minute and not the tenth."

The Tommies are back in action Sunday as they host the University of Prince Edward Island, while Dalhousie will visit the University de Moncton Aigles Bleus in Moncton.
