(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) - The StFX X-Men (5-3-3) defeated the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-9-1) by a 3-0 score in AUS soccer action Friday night at Oland Stadium.

In windy and rainy conditions, more than 100 fans saw the X-Men score three goals in the second half to secure the victory.

In the 47th minute, Kareem Henry (Mississauga, Ont.) deposited the rebound on a shot from Jordan Roberts (Whitby, Ont.) to open the scoring.

In the 51st minute, Mark Harpur (Calgary, Alta.) received a red card, which left the X-Men one player short for the rest of the match.

Despite that loss, StFX carried the play in the second half, garnering several quality chances against Aigles Bleus goalkeeper Louis Bergeron (Trois-Rivières, Que.).

In the 76th minute, X-Men captain Randy Ribeiro (Cambridge, Ont.) made a run down the sideline, eluded two Moncton defenders and then made a left-footed pass to a sliding Ryan Ashlee (Victoria, B.C.), who deftly re-directed the ball behind Bergeron.

In extra time, Serge Dossou (Calgary, Alta.) got behind the Moncton defenders before taking a pass from Liam Elbourne (Halifax, N.S.), which he roofed in the top corner to wrap up the scoring.

The X-Men had 13 shots, while the Aigles Bleus collected 12.

Sam Hutchison (Victoria, B.C.) made three saves for the victory.

Graeme Hodgkinson (Calgary, Alta.) was named Subway player of the game.

Before the match, the X-Men honoured seniors Harpur, Ashlee, Hutchison, Hodgkinson and Mitchell George (Antigonish, N.S.), who were playing for the final time at Oland Stadium.

The X-Men return to action Sunday, Oct. 19, when they face the Saint Mary's Huskies in Halifax. Game time is 3:15 p.m. Moncton plays the UNB Varsity Reds in Fredericton on Sunday, also at 3:15.
