WBB | Voyageurs Upended by Rams, 66-61

The Laurentian Voyageurs women's basketball team continued their four-game losing streak on Saturday night as they lost a nail biter to the Ryerson Rams, 66-61.

The Rams led the Voyageurs right from the start, ending the first quarter down 18-10. The Vees made a good offensive effort in the first ten minutes but were unable to complete plays and couldn't nail down consecutive baskets. The second quarter saw a push from the Voyageurs, matching the Rams offensive efforts and making more shots, but it wasn't enough to close the lead, heading into the half down 28-23. Meghan Forestell led the scoring for Laurentian in the first half with six points, followed by Kayla Deschatelets and L'Ashante Henry who both contributed with five each.

The second half was much of the same story for the Voyageurs, with solid efforts by their defense to thwart the Rams offense. However, Ryerson was able to stay just ahead of the Vees through the remainder of the half, never allowing the Voyageurs to close the gap and hold on to the 66-61 victory. In the loss, the Voyageurs were led by L'Ashante Henry (13 points, six rebounds) and Meghan Forestell (12 points, three steals).

The Voyageurs will be back in action next weekend as they welcome the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (Friday, 6pm) and Carleton Ravens (Saturday, 6pm) to the Ben Avery Gym.
